I usually see elevators in tall buildings like offices, hotels, apartment buildings, shopping malls, and hospitals. As for the role of an elevator operator, traditionally, they were responsible for manually controlling the movements of elevators, ensuring passengers' safety, assisting with loading and unloading, and providing information or assistance to those using the elevators. However, in modern times, with the advancements in automation, elevators are often operated and controlled by computer systems, making the need for traditional elevator operators much less common. In some older buildings or specific situations, elevator operators might still be present, but their primary duties might have shifted more towards customer service and safety oversight.
